Trigger > Flashback > Memory > Emotion > Release > Healing

Flashbacks of memories are a way your mind, body and energy field bring your attention to something unresolved in your life. Sometimes you may have flashbacks of wonderful moments, but most flashbacks are of cringe moments and they feel as if they are taking place in the current moment.

That cringe energy, guilt, shame, embarrassment, hurt, confusion, frustration, upset, anger etc… associated with the flashback/memory is embedded somewhere in your body, running on the subconscious level of your mind, and when triggered, rises to the surface of your awareness. You feel the emotion intensely.

What is a trigger? A trigger is something in your environment, it could be a song, word, image, smell, sound, person, colour etc that connects you to the energy of trauma = unexpressed emotion, held within. And the memory attached surfaces.

What NOT to do? When you have a trigger that leads to a flashback/memory and a heavy emotion rises up, don’t push it back down. Let it come up. Face it. I see you. I feel you. I hear you. I don’t want you in my body any longer. I direct and command you to leave my body now. Use breath work to move it up and out or body work; movement. Visualize yourself pulling the energy out of your body.

How many years and decades have you been pushing it back down to fester and build? The flashback + emotion have come up to give you an opportunity to release it.

In order to receive the fullness of the release leading to healing, it is best, at the same time, to turn within and connect with the part of you that is responsible for the emotion. Or the part that holds the emotion.
ie. The part of me that feels guilty for being mean to that girl in grade four.
The part of me that feels shame for giving my body to that boy who said he loved me but only wanted me for sex.
The part of me that is crying inside because of the pain she felt when she was yelled at, hit, told she was not pretty enough, smart enough; good enough.
The part of me that is angry because she was uprooted and sent to a new school, with new kids, new teacher and left to figure it out on her own.

You see releasing the energy in the moment as it rises up is a good step towards healing and change.

But don’t miss the step of turning within and connecting with the part of you that is holding onto the emotion. She needs help.

Connect with the part of you that lives the pain, shame, guilt, confusion, fear every minute of every day. Acknowledge her/him and go through the process of listening to the part, learning about it, then eventually and slowly bring the part into reconciliation with Self, into Love/Light for healing and wholeness.

Allow yourself as the conscious mind, the one in charge, to rescue that part of you living in separation from the whole due to past trauma = unexpressed emotion, wound and or pain and love it back into the fold.

And it is not always easy to turn within and communicate with the part or parts of you that need your attention, love and healing. When you need help going through this process reach out.
