I was watching the Disney Series Percy and the Olympians, curious because I read the books years ago and because I enjoy Greek Mythology.

When Percy, a Demi God, was claimed by his father Poseidon, I had a flash back to the day I sailed into the cave of Poseidon’s Palace off the coast of Corfu.

The Palace that Poseidon, the King of the Sea, created for his love, Amphritrites.

💙 Here’s the romantic story and legend:  Poseidon instantly fell in love with Amphritrites after he saw her dancing with her sisters (the Nereids ~ sea nymphs). Refusing his marriage proposal, she fled and hid at “the end of the world”.

Not deterred, Poseidon sent his messenger Delphinus, the king of the dolphins, to locate her and win her heart. The dolphin agreed and embarked on a long, perilous journey to find Amphitrite.

When he finally found her, he promised that if she agreed to marry Poseidon, all the energies of Poseidon would balance and tranquility would come to all of the seas.

Amphitrite was so moved by the promise that she agreed to marry Poseidon. And the King of the Sea, rewarded Delphinus for his service by proclaiming him divine and immortal.

With Amphitrite in his arms, Poseidon struck Corfu with his trident breaking off the southern tip to form the island Paxos. In the process, he lost his trident. The trident was later found by the inhabitants of Paxos and they made it into their island’s emblem.

On the neighbouring island of Antipaxos, Poseidon built a palace for Amphitrite at Ahaya Bay blue cave. The couple gave birth to two daughters, the Nymphs Rhode and Benthesicyme, and a son, the merman Triton, half human half fish.  (Source ionian-cruisesdotcom)

A beautiful and romantic tale.

As I had my flashback, I remembered clearly the energy I felt when we sailed into the cave where Poseidon’s Palace was built. Everyone on board the boat got quiet and looked up and around in awe and reverence. The music of Odyssey was playing on the sound speakers and a chill of resonance went through my body.

You see we read and hear stories of the Greek Gods and their adventures, but when you travel through Greece, Albania, Cyprus and Turkey, the mythology comes alive.

And when you visit places like Delphi, The Acropolis, The Temple of Venus, Poseidon’s Palace, you feel and connect with the energy.

⭐ Meet me in Corfu this June 1-8, for our next ladies travel retreat, and immerse yourself in the energies of the Greek Gods.

We will sail the seas of Poseidon, and visit the cave where he built a palace for his love.
